Kim is a qualified and compassionate practitioner, holding a Master’s degree in Child Play Therapy, along with training in Learn to Play, Humanistic Therapy, and Filial Therapy. She also holds a degree in Nursing and a postgraduate diploma in Midwifery.
With over 25 years of experience in nursing and midwifery, Kim brings a wealth of knowledge to her play therapy practice. Her extensive background includes working in high-complexity Special Care Nurseries, the paediatric cardiac/renal unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and in a paediatric surgical unit.
Kim’s vast experience has shaped her approach to working with children and families, guiding them to strengthen connections, understand neurodiversity, rebuild from traumatic experiences, and foster emotional and social development through play. She is particularly interested in understanding how children perceive their world and provides a safe, calm, and inviting environment where they can express their thoughts and emotions through play.
In her practice, Kim involves carers and family members in the therapeutic process, encouraging open and honest communication to reflect on individual needs and challenges. This collaborative approach helps build stronger family connections and enhances overall wellbeing.
As a mother of two boys, Kim brings her own parenting experience to her work, offering both professional expertise and personal insight. She is registered with AHPRA and the Australasian Pacific Play Therapy Association (AAPTA).
