Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Geelong

What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training program that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health problems in adults. Just like physical first aid, MHFA gives you the tools to provide initial support until professional help is available.

What You’ll Learn in MHFA Training

  • Recognising signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use).

  • How to approach someone who may be struggling.

  • How to provide initial support in a crisis.

  • Knowledge of professional help and treatment pathways available.

  • Building confidence to support family, friends, colleagues or community members.
